Dr. Stoyan Panov

Dr. Stoyan Panov is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Global Analytics in the framework of the Horizon Europe project RESPOND - Rescuing Democracy from Political Corruption in Digital Societies. His research interests and publications focus on the EU’s legal and institutional responses to the rule of law and corruption, the effect of populism on the rule of law, separation of powers and judicial independence, analysis of the CJEU’s jurisprudence in rule of law and democracy backsliding cases. He also studies human rights protections in preventive seizure and confiscation of assets and property in anti-corruption frameworks, and the function of EU Criminal Law, the establishment and work of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office and effects on EU integration. Dr. Panov received his education at the University of Birmingham, Leiden University, Georgetown University, and DePauw University. He was awarded the 2019/2020 re:constitution – Exchange and Analysis on Democracy and the Rule of Law in Europe fellowship. He is a Lecturer in International Law and EU Law at University College Freiburg, University of Freiburg.

Barbara Bačová

Barbara Bačová is an Analyst at the Institute for Global Analytics. She is a graduate of BA (Hons) in Human, Social, and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge and an MPhil in Social Anthropological Research also at the University of Cambridge. Embarking on a PhD in Social Anthropology on Slovak civil servants at her former department, Barbara has previously worked as a Junior Talent Policy Officer at the Research and Innovation Authority (under the Slovak Government Office), assisted on projects as part of the European Expert Network on Economics of Education coordinated by PPMI, and worked for the behavioural startup Zhiva. In her free time, she engages in anthropological tutoring and volunteers for the Slovak Debate Association to make academic debating more accessible.

Marketa Vasickova

Marketa Vasickova is an Analyst at the Institute for Global Analytics. She holds a BA (Hons) in Human, Social, and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Her dissertation focused on uncovering antipolitical forms of resistance in Czechoslovakia during the period of normalization, utilizing samizdat archives as a primary source. Her broader research interests include Sino-Russian relations and Russia’s influence in Central and Eastern Europe. Marketa also serves as the editor of Novy Zine, a bilingual (Czech and English) publication that explores Central and Eastern European arts, culture, and socio-political issues. In her free time, she volunteers with the ENGin program, tutoring Ukrainian students affected by war in English language skills.
