Registration Open for International Conference: Central and South Eastern Europe After Four Years of War
International Conference in Sofia, October 27 - Registration Open
The Institute for Global Analytics, in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, is convening the international conference Central and South Eastern Europe After Four Years of War: New Trends and Old Patterns in Foreign Influence, Resilience-Building and Regional Cooperation. It will take place on October 27, 2026 in Grand Hotel Sofia, Triaditza 2 Hall, with panel discussions running from 10 am to 5 pm, preceded by a reception at the Embassy at 6:30 pm on October 26.
The conference is informed by the urgency to maintain constant vigilance and devise effective strategies for addressing Russian influence in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe (CESEE) in the context of the Kremlin’s war against Ukraine. It will bring together leading Bulgarian and CESEE experts to discuss the range of Russia’s media, cognitive, cultural and cyber operations, outstanding vulnerabilities across the region and successful cases of resilience-building. The panels will also examine Russian domestic trends, including societal dissatisfaction, economic decline and elite configurations, as well as their potential implications for Russian foreign policy and the war against Ukraine. Further discussions will explore the extent to which other authoritarian powers, primarily China, support Russia’s malign activities, drawing comparisons among CESEE states to identify patterns of Chinese engagement and influence in the region. Finally, the conference will address prospects for more intensified regional cooperation across Central Europe and the Balkans, with a view to promoting more effective defenses against foreign influence.
