Dr. Rumena Filipova co-moderated together with Elene Kintsurashvili of GMF a workshop session on security dynamics in the Black Sea region. The discussion was held as part of the “Three Seas, One Opportunity” conference, organized by The Opportunity for Foreign Affairs. The conference – an official side event of the Three Seas Summit, took place on April 27, 2025 in Warsaw, Poland.
Important points of the discussion concerned the spillover impact of Black Sea developments in the Western Balkans; the relative window of opportunity in some parts of the South Caucasus to turn away from Russia; the vulnerable areas of Moldova that can block access to the Black Sea; identifying regional public and private sources of financing projects and many more vital questions. Empowering the 3SI to provide the infrastructural response to security questions and connect the Baltic and the Black Seas remain key.
