Podcast Series Episode 5 with Nikolai Klimeniouk: There is Now a Greater Representation of Ukrainian Voices in German Media

The fifth episode of our podcast series Foreign Authoritarian-State Disinformation: Global Perspectives is out now! The initiative is supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs with Meridian International Center as the implementing partner.

In this installment, Dr. Rumena Filipova talks to Nikolai Klimeniouk, freelance writer at Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. With over 25 years’ experience he has worked in print, broadcast and online media, in established media organizations, start-ups and re-launches, having held positions in Russian, German and international media ranging from correspondent to editor-in-chief and published on a wide variety of subjects including politics, human rights issues, social and cultural topics, travel and lifestyle.

Tune in to the conversation to hear more about:

  • The changing representation of Ukrainian perspectives in German media: from scarce to ever more present since the start of the Kremlin’s war.
  • The extent to which reporting in German/West European media is informed by Ukrainian/Ukraine-based journalists.
