Dr. Rumena Filipova took part in the To Be Secure International Forum, organized by the Atlantic Council of Montenegro on 6-8 October 2022. The Forum brought together leading experts and officials from Southeast Europe and the Transatlantic area. Key topics of discussion focused on the political vision of decision-makers in Montenegro and the region; the challenges of Chinese and Russian collusion and disinformation; the state of the democratization process; fostering accountable intelligence services in the Western Balkans; the impact of history on contemporary political developments; the climate-energy security nexus. The conference featured a special address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
IGA’s chairperson participated in a panel, which discussed the main features of the global order in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The main conclusion that emerged was that the current international system is adapting and transforming, rather than being subject to radical change, with the need to engage in a vigorous ideational competition in defense of the values of the Euro-Atlantic community.
