Dr. Gergana Dimova and Dr. Rumena Filipova took part in the international conference ‘Questions of Accountability: Prerogatives, Power and Politics’, organized by the University of Worcester. The online event was held between 1 and 5 November 2021.
Key topics of discussion included the link between media, populism and accountability across diverse geographical regions such as Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and China. Dr. Dimova focused on the phenomenon of blame games in politics and related problems of locating accountability. Dr. Filipova discussed the impact of Russian and Chinese disinformation on framing local Central and East European populations’ perceptions of democratic accountability.
