Dr. Rumena Filipova took part in an international interdisciplinary seminar on Information disorders in politics, media and historical memories organized by ICDS-International Centre for Defence and Security (Estonia) and Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (bpb)/Federal Agency for Civic Education (Germany). The conference took place between 21 and 25 September 2022 in Laulasmaa-Tallinn, Estonia.
Key topics of discussion focused on historical narratives as part of propaganda wars; the question of colonialism in Russia’s war against Ukraine; the instrumentalization of memory in the Baltic states; Russian disinformation and perceptions in the West. A main conclusion that emerged from the debates is that amplifying CEE perspectives and fostering intra-European sensitivity to historical memory is pivotal. A report and advocacy activities are to follow.
